Lavenham Brook Pinot Noir Rosé 2010 – Silver Medal Winner
At the end of June, East Anglia enjoyed perfect weather for a great fruit set with light breezes and lots of warm sunshine. 'Too good to last,' they cried and they were right! From August on, through to harvest in October, Suffolk laboured under leaden skies and low temperatures. We were very pleased that, despite less than ideal conditions, we were still able to produce a top class crop of Pinot Noir grapes. This gives us great confidence for the future.
Both acid and sugar levels were very satisfactory and our highly sucessful winemaker has produced our first Rosé well up to his high standards.
In the 2011 UK Vineyards Association’s Wine of the Year competition the judges, all Masters of Wine applying international standards, awarded the wine a silver medal. The Judges said of our Lavenham Pinot Noir Rosé 2010
“Pale salmon-pink. Red berry fruit, touch of forest floor. Medium sweetness, crisp acidity in balance, a little grip, nice fruit across the palate, fair length.”
Whilst great to drink by itself it is an excellent accompaniment with rice, pasta and spicy fish dishes.
