Lavenham Brook Bacchus 2010

Lavenham Brook Bacchus 2010 – Gold Medal Winner

In East Anglia the weather was perfect at the crucial fruit setting time around the end of June. Warm sustained sunshine with a gentle breeze promised a large premium quality crop. Our hopes were dashed, along with all those hoping for a BBQ summer, with the onset of cold wet weather in August which extended through to October in Suffolk. This created challenging conditions in the vineyard.

Our efforts were rewarded at harvest with an excellent quality crop with ideal sugar levels balanced by good acid; Our winemaker has produced an outstanding wine at a slightly lower alcohol content of 10.5% than the 2009.

In the 2011 UK Vineyards Association’s Wine of the Year competition the judges, all Masters of Wine applying international standards, awarded the wine a gold medal.

The Judges comments on our Lavenham Brook Bacchus 2010 were

Pale silver lime-leaf green. Pronounced Bacchus with greengage and nettle, honey overtone. Medium-dry, very fresh acidity, greenfruit and herby accent, well-balanced, lovely length.”

As with the 2009 it is good to drink on its own or as an accompaniment to white meat, fish, oriental and vegetarian dishes.
